Julian Gressel is a professional footballer who is in his second year with the Atlanta United. A native of Neustadt an der Aisch, Germany, Gressel first came to the United States as a high school student and fell in love with the country, prompting his return for college where he played for Providence College. After a successful career on the field and graduating in 3.5 years with a degree in management, Gressel was selected by Atlanta United with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. The German midfielder’s nine helpers were the third-most recorded by a rookie in MLS history. He was rewarded for this spectacular play by being voted the 2018 Major League Soccer Rookie of the Year.
